First meeting of the training managers of the banking supervisory authorities that are part of ASBA

From February 10 to 12, 36 officials responsible for the training programs of the banking supervisory authorities of Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, , Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, St. Kitts & Nevis, Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, United States and Uruguay met in Miami. The meeting was also attended by officials of the Financial Stability Institute.

The purpose of the meeting was to identify the current and future training needs of ASBA members, taking into account the rapid evolution of the financial system.

Participants agreed on the strategy to review and update the ASBA Continental Training Program so that it can continue to respond to the needs of the members of the Association and address the new challenges the region's supervisors are facing.

XCIII Board of Directors

The XCIII Board of Directors of the Association of Supervisors of Banks of the Americas was celebrated on January 30 and 31st in Mexico City, Mexico.

Representatives of financial supervisory authorities from Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, United States and Uruguay attended the meeting.

XVI BANKING SECTOR REGIONAL POLICY DIALOGUE FOR THE LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN: "CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES IN THE NEW FINANCIAL ECOSYSTEM"

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in collaboration the Federación Latinoamericana de Bancos (FELABAN) and ASBA organized the XVI Banking Sector Regional Policy Dialogue for the Latin America and the Caribbean: "Challenges and Opportunities in the New Financial Ecosystem", in Washington D.C on October 16-17, 2019. During the Dialogue, these aspects were addressed:

  1. Regulation of new technologies and business models
  2. Cybersecurity, risks, and mitigation
  3. Big Tech, Big players, and the financial sector
  4. De-risking

XXII ANNUAL ASSEMBLY OF THE ASSOCIATION OF SUPERVISORS OF BANKS OF THE AMERICAS

From September 30 to October 3, 2019, the XXII Annual Assembly of the Association of Supervisors of Banks of the Americas (ASBA) and the XIV High-Level Meeting were celebrated. The event was organized by the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Private Pension Fund Administrators of Peru, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS), the Financial Stability Institute (FSI) of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and ASBA.

The challenges and priorities of the regulators and supervisors of our continent in the current environment were examined.
